American Legion Battlefields Post #144 promotes the principles and policies set forth in the Constitutions of the American Legion and the Department of Virginia.

The Legion chartered Battlefields Post #144 in 1934; at that time, local veterans organized the Post and built the first Post Home, a log cabin, on land that today is a local ball field. In the 1970s, the Post acquired the land and built our current Post Home by Old Hanover Road amidst field fortifications constructed during the American Civil War.

Over 200 veterans of our nations conflicts in the 20th century, from World War II through to the Global War on Terror, continue the Legion’s traditions of service to veterans, their families, and their community, state, and nation.
